You Are Here! at 4th Floor Gallery in Rockland

You’re invited to a new exhibit, You Are Here!, opening this September at the 4th Floor Gallery in Rockland, Massachusetts. You Are Here! is a guided tour through the states and towns of New England as seen through the lens of pattern. Design Pool’s Kristen Dettoni joined forces with artist and designer Dayna Hartford of Dayna’s Textiles to explore the personal histories that connect them to this region in both literal and symbolic ways.

In the work exhibited, they draw inspiration from their own personal map tacks, the physical locations where they have lived, worked, and played. They also examine the idea that they are here because of the decisions made by their ancestors, who chose to immigrate to America and grow roots in New England. Original artwork and printed products will be on display. Displayed together, they will show the journey from idea to pattern to product and the rest stops along the way.

Opening Reception: September 7 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM

In addition to the exhibit, Kristen and Dayna are planning two fun bookmaking workshops. In these workshops, participants will learn to make three different simple books using paper printed with patterns from the exhibit and Design Pool’s library. All materials will be provided, as well as wine and light snacks. No bookmaking experience is necessary.

They will run two versions of this workshop: one for interior designers looking to network with other designers while making beautiful books, and the other for anyone interested in learning how to make books. Each workshop is $25, and space is limited. Reserve a spot for you and a friend today!
