Wallpaper Pattern Trends
It’s clear from researching wallpaper pattern trends that pattern is making a big impact on interior design. From pattern mixing to pattern drenching, designers are achieving a comforting and controlled sort of maximalism. In an article from Wallsauce, this maximalism was described as “comforting chaos.”
What strikes us as the most exciting part of this trend is seeing how digital printing is impacting these pattern trends. How? Prior to digitally printed wallpaper, there were limits on how many colors could be printed in a design. With digital printing, there are no constraints. This is why printers can print something like a photograph on wallpaper and have all the same color and value as you’d get on photo paper.
Another significant change is that there is no standard repeat size. In previous methods of production, repeat sizes were limited by the printing equipment. Now, you can print a single image with no repeat at all. Since our patterns were all designed with digital printing in mind, it makes them the perfect choice for jumping onto these wallpaper pattern trends.
What wallpaper pattern trends are perfect for digital printing?

Watercolor Effects
Watercolor designs are nearly impossible to achieve in wallpaper printed using non-digital technology because it just requires too many colors to make those beautiful, watercolor effects. With this finally possible, designers are embracing it fully.

Texture
As designers have moved away from sleek minimalism for a more expressive and maximalist aesthetic, they are including texture in material choices. Sometimes that means lush accessories, but it also means texture in materials such as wallpaper. For those who don’t want actual texture on their walls, digitally printed wallpaper with an image of texture solves that problem. We saw this trending at NeoCon 2025, for example, in places that need smooth, easy-to-clean walls.

Murals
With no restrictions on repeat sizes, murals are easy to achieve and have a unique ability to transform an entire room. In a residential setting, they add an artful element and a burst of personality. In a more commercial interior, they offer an opportunity to incorporate branding into an Instagrammable backdrop. However they’re used, they always pack a punch.
Design Pool was founded in part because Kristen was excited about the opportunities digital printing presented for interior designers. She knew it would be a game-changer for commercial and residential projects. Our pattern library has hundreds of patterns to choose from, whatever the look you’re trying to achieve.
