Visit Kristen at HCD Expo 2024 in October

This October, Design Pool will join our printing partner, Graphix Unlimited, at the Healthcare Design Conference + Expo. HCD Expo 2024 occurs October 5 – 8, 2024, at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Find Kristen Dettoni and the Graphix Unlimited team in Booth #1332.

Together, we’ll show attendees how easy it is to use any pattern from the Design Pool licensable library on any of the different materials Graphix Unlimited has to offer interior designers. In addition, Kristen will highlight collections designed with the healthcare market in mind.

Which collections are perfect for healthcare?

Light Play is a collection designed for Veilish, an innovative woven window film available for commercial interiors exclusively through Graphix Unlimited. This film is a semi-transparent polyester fabric suitable for various surfaces. The woven texture adds a tactility not available in traditional window films. Available in three colors, it allows light in while retaining privacy. It also provides UV resistance and reduces harmful infrared rays by 25 – 33%, thereby reducing energy expenses by maintaining cooler room temperatures.

The fourteen patterns in Light Play play with light and shadow to create a sense of transition between outside and inside and add an element of play and interactivity to an otherwise plain surface. When designing this collection, Kristen thought about playing in and with light. She noticed shadows cast by plants next to the sidewalk, a person in the street, or a tree nearby. She also thought about ways people interact with light, such as by making shadow puppets with a flashlight at summer camp. This collection was named a 2024 HiP Award Honoree by Interior Design magazine and was also featured in Interior Design’s June/July print issue.

R&R, a group within the award-winning Cryptology Collection, is another collection created for healthcare. In this collection, Kristen designed with code to create patterns with messages of health and wellness hidden in the design. Messages range from the hopeful “Focus on the positive” to the irreverent “F*ck Cancer.”

The collection Invisible Threads aims to tap into our tactile sensibilities by using digital printing to bring the comfort of embroidered cloth into spaces that require flat, cleanable surfaces. These patterns use a unique design process that starts with hand-embroidered stitches. This process gives patterns a high level of visual dimension.

Lastly, Swallowtail Farms is a collection designed in collaboration with Maine herbalist Lauren Pignatello. All the patterns focus on plants and flowers traditionally used for medicinal purposes, such as yarrow and elderberry. They also all match the Sherwin-Williams healthcare color palettes.
