New in the Library: Delish Collection

New in the library this month is the Delish Collection. This collection continues the theme of block printed fruits and vegetables first created in our Farmers Market collection.

All the patterns in this digital collection had a very analog beginning. First, Kristen started by drawing from fruits and vegetables. She then used these drawings to create hand carved blocks. Using traditional printmaking techniques, Kristen printed these blocks onto paper, where they retained a beautiful texture. Next, Kristen scanned these motifs and brought them into her computer to put them in repeat and turn them into digital patterns.

With a handmade beginning, these patterns have a special quality. They all retain a slight irregularity that lends them personality.

Where should you use the Delish collection?

These patterns are bright, cheerful, and add a jolt of positive energy into any room. We can see these patterns used in both residential and commercial interiors. In the home, these would be perfect in a kitchen on wallpaper, window treatments, or seating.

Want to learn to block print?

If you’ve always wanted to learn how to block print on fabric, now is your chance! Kristen is teaching a class this spring at Snow Farm, located in the beautiful foothills of the Berkshire Mountains in Massachusetts. This class includes instruction on basic pattern repeats in addition to carving the blocks and printing the fabric. The last time she taught this class it filled up quickly. If you’re interested, we recommend registering early.
