Introducing Fabric Smiths

Design Pool is happy to announce we have partnered with Fabric Smiths. This partnership will give interior designers the ability to create their own line of home good products and enhance their service offerings. Fabric Smiths allows anyone to upload their designs to print on a range of different products. Those who want to offer products but don’t have their own designs can license any Design Pool pattern.

Who is Fabric Smiths?

Textile designer Sharon Smith founded Fabric Smiths to fill a gap she saw in the home décor landscape. As a designer, she was looking for a platform to print her designs on products. When she found this task challenging, she decided to build her own platform to help other creative entrepreneurs connect directly with manufacturers.

How does Design Pool work with them?

Fabric Smiths launched as a platform for designers to print their own designs. She soon realized other types of people wanted to use this service, too, such as interior decorators and designers who wanted to offer their customers an exclusive line of products. However, some of those folks didn’t have their own patterns and didn’t know where to find high-quality, original patterns.

Design Pool fills that gap. Those who want to offer a product line but don’t have their own designs can choose any pattern from the licensable library and build a product line.

Why do we love Fabric Smiths?

There are many reasons we were excited to partner with Fabric Smiths. First, they have an impressive offering of products to print on, including fabric by the yard, throw pillows, wall coverings, floor coverings, and blankets.

Also, their business model is set up to provide a service to designers and artists. They do not sell products with your designs printed on them. They explain on their website that other websites “leverage your designs and pay you a nominal commission when your design is used on a fabric or product purchased by someone else. We don’t believe this sufficiently recognizes the investment you have made in your artwork. Instead, we want you to use us as your supplier, maintaining the inherent value in your design, by allowing you to price and market your products as you wish.”

How do you get started?

Excited? I’m sure! To get started, you will need to create an account with Fabric Smiths. They will take over from there to help you begin printing products.
