Cross Hatch Cultivate, New in the Library

In case you missed it, a new collection, Cross Hatch Cultivate, is in the licensable library. The inspiration for this collection was technique rather than motif and color. Previously, I had created some floral landscape patterns using a cross hatch technique I developed. It was fun, and I was happy with the results. As soon as I was done, I knew I wanted to work with this technique more and build a complete collection around it.

Why fruits and leaves?

The technique seemed well suited for motifs that were simplified down to simple shapes. I really wanted the lines to sing. While researching fruits and plants for the Technology X Tradition collection, I became curious about different fruits and what some people called ancient fruits. I wanted to simplify these fruit shapes and then let the cross hatch technique add dimension and shape to the motifs. Leaves also looked beautiful with this technique, so I added stylized leaf patterns to the group.

This challenge to explore this technique further led to a collection of ten patterns. It features fruits such as mangosteen, pears, oranges and figs. There are also patterns with leaves, vines, ginkgo leaves, thistles, and acorns. When I finished all ten patterns, I felt like I’d cultivated this little garden of line-drawn patterns. Hence, the name!

The colorways for these patterns are all clean with on-trend color combinations, mostly on neutral ground colors. I can picture these patterns used in various interior settings, such as upholstery, peel-and-stick wallpaper, or flooring.

Cross Hatch Cultivate is in the library.

You can find all ten patterns in the Cross Hatch Cultivate Collection in the licensable library. Get started using these patterns today by clicking on any material icon you’re interested in. You will be connected with one of our digital printing partners to get you started with sampling and, eventually, your production order.
